Star Wars: The Old Republic, the popular online game from BioWare, is set to receive its second big patch later today, in the form of Update 1.2, entitled “Legacy”.

BioWare set out to deliver a sprawling online experience based on the hugely popular Star Wars franchise and, judging by its pretty big number of subscribers, it’s been a success, with many users devouring the content offered by the multiplayer game.

Now, after the first major patch for the game, the update 1.1 “Rise of the Rakghouls”, BioWare is set to launch a new one later today, in the form of “Legacy”.

“Game Update 1.2 for Star Wars: The Old Republic, 'Legacy', brings a wide range of new content to the game. This includes a new Flashpoint on the planet of Ord Mantell, a new Warzone and Operation set on the planet of Denova, and a number of new systems as well. You can look forward to Guild Banks, a Combat Log, User Interface customization and the next evolution of the Legacy system,” BioWare revealed about the new patch.

Update 1.2, like its name suggests, focuses on the Legacy system in the game, which allows players to create more characters and assemble them into a family, thus earning special bonuses and extra powers.

“With Game Update 1.2, the Legacy system has been greatly expanded on,” the studio said.

“Players can now tie their different characters together inside of a Legacy family tree, and those characters will be able to unlock unique abilities for themselves, and for other characters in their Legacy. Over time, as players increase their Legacy level they'll be able to unlock new "convenience items" for their ship, which include an on-board mailbox and Global Trade Network terminal, among other items. With Legacy, players can also unlock new species for any character class in their Legacy.”

Besides the improved Legacy system, update 1.2 for The Old Republic also brings a new Operation and a new Flashpoint experience, so check out their descriptions below.

Operation: Explosive Conflict In 'Explosive Conflict', a brutal battle between Imperial invaders and Republic-backed mercenaries has come to an abrupt end, with both forces swearing allegiance to a powerful warlord. Neither the Republic nor the Empire will allow such a betrayal to stand, and that's why you and your allies must travel to the planet of Denova. There, you and your groupmates will have to work together to battle some of the greatest threats in the galaxy, but you will earn powerful weapons and armor as you progress.

Flashpoint: The Lost Island

'The Lost Island' is an exciting new Flashpoint that picks up immediately after the events of 'Kaon Under Siege'. Having learned the identity of who was responsible for the outbreak of the Rakghoul virus that devastated the Tion Hegemony, you and up to three of your Republic or Imperial allies will be sent to a small island on Ord Mantell. Once there, you will battle your way through endless hordes of twisted creatures before confronting the man responsible for the destruction of so many worlds. Update 1.2 for Star Wars: The Old Republic will go live later today across all of the game’s servers and will be automatically downloaded the next time you start it up.
