Video game developer Sony Online Entertainment and publisher LucasArts have announced that Clone Wars Adventures, their MMO based on the popular Star Wars franchise, has managed to get more than 10 million registered players.

The company says that the impressive number of engaged gamers is a sign that the game has managed to impress with the family friendly mechanics it delivers and with the solid use of the Star Wars themes and characters.

The MMO is based on the television cartoon series with the same name and uses the same look and overall story, allowing players to experience one of the lesser known chapters of the Star Wars saga.

In order to celebrate the 10 million player milestone, SOE is offering all those who have a registered account access to an exclusive Gold Death Watch Armor.

The Clone Wars will also witness the return of Darth Maul, who will first be introduced in The Clone Wars on March 15, allowing players to interact with him, get a new player title and other rewards.

John Smedley, who is the president of Sony Online Entertainment, stated, “Clone Wars Adventures is one of our original free-to-play games and it continues to demonstrate the success of the free-to-play business model.”

He added, “Surpassing 10 million registered players so quickly is an extraordinary achievement and we have no intention of slowing down. Our goal is to continue to create an immersive environment that captures the essence of Star Wars, and we remain committed to further amplifying the Star Wars experience for all of our 10 million-plus registered players.”

The developers also revealed that the most popular mini-games were: Republic Defender, Galactic Forces, Lightsaber Dueling and Starfighter.

The most popular in-game battle is that with Rancoer on Umbara. The Stunt Gungan mini-game has also seen Jar Jar Binks jump more than 4.5 billion meters.
