As if Christmas wasn't crowded enough in real life, with all the food available and the huge family reunions, most MMO developers are also hurrying to create special events in their games designed to draw players into the Christmas feeling by offering something named differently but in the same spirit.

Sony Online Entertainment is the latest company to announce specific events for all its MMOs. In Everquest II, players will take part in Forstfell, the celebration of giving and kinship, which will take place from December 11, 2008 to January 5, 2009. There will be a special Frostfell Wonderland Village set up that can be accessed via Magic Closets from Qeynos Harbor, West Freeport, Haven, Kelethin, Neriak and Gorowyn. Santa Glug will make an appearance and presents can be gathered.

In the original Everquest, players can also enjoy Frostfell by taking part in a quest aiming to recover the gifts that have been taken by thieves. As the missing presents are returned, players will receive special rewards, mainly in game items. Santug Claugg, captured by Freezkorr of the Frostclaw clan, must also be rescued to save the celebration.

In Star Wars Galaxies players will be able to enjoy Wookiee Life Day, involving new events, items and activities. The festivities begin on December 16 and end on January 13, 2009. The events are centered around places like Dearic, Doaba Goerfel and Wayfa and one of the quests will be focused on finding candy that can be exchanged for a new speeder, which will be seen in Star Wars Galaxies for the first time.

Legends of Norrath is also getting a Christmas special event from December 15 to January 9, while in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, players will be able to enjoy the Festival of Gloriann, complete with a flying reindeer mount. Even the virtual world of The Matrix Online will enjoy the spirit of Christmas, with new items and a Snow Simulacra that must be defeated.
