Since Star Wars Battlefront was first announced, plenty of details about the coming title from developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have been offered and the reactions from fans have been a little mixed.

Now, Niklas Fegraeus, the design director working on the experience, is offering more details about the design philosophy that explains the decisions of his team on the official site.

The executive says that Star Wars Battlefront will be authentic in its portrayal of familiar content from the movies and will respect the work of those who have created them.

DICE will achieve this by carefully scanning film props and by using original sounds where it can, while also filling in the gaps with its own content.

Fegraeus claims that no other video game will present Star Wars as Battlefront will.

He adds, "We have looked at many new technologies that will allow us to truly take a leap into the new generation of video game fidelity, and this has resulted in physically based rendering as well as photogrammetry workflows. These are not easy things to do, but the hard work has truly paid off, allowing us to deliver an authentic, immersive experience with Star Wars Battlefront."

New tech and authenticity are important, but the team at DICE is also focused on delivering a fun experience that fans will want to stay involved with for a long time.

Star Wars Battlefront will be launched on November 17

The statement from Fegraeus does not offer any new details about the video game, but it does clarify the way DICE is approaching the development process.

Gameplay from Star Wars Battlefront will be shown during E3 2015, when players will also be able to get hands-on experiences with the title.

The shooter will emphasize team play and variety in combat, but it will also include modes that allow gamers to battle AI enemies, designed for those who do not want to engage with others.

At the core of the title will sit a Hero mode that allows players to become powerful combatants like Darth Vader or Boba Fett.

Star Wars Battlefront will be offered on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4.

Battle of Jakku, a downloadable content pack with elements taken from The Force Awakens, will be introduced for free to all those who pick up the shooter in early December.
