We already know that a bigger reveal for Star Wars: Battlefront is set to take place on April 17, but for the information-craving fans even the smallest details about the title and its place in the canon of the franchise are important right now.

The Amazon preview info for the new A New Dawn novel, which is set to also be introduced before the end of 2015, includes a new timeline for the fictional universe.

Star Wars: Battlefront is placed just after the events of Heir to the Jedi, a new book that will chronicle the aftermath of A New Hope, and before The Empire Strikes Back.

The team at Disney that now owns the franchise has revealed that it has a range of novels coming in the next few months in order to flesh out the events that take place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

More TV series are also being created, Revels and The Clone Wars, and it seems that Battlefront is designed to offer an experience that does not slot into just one place on the timeline.

A leak from an inside source explained earlier in the year that the title was designed to explore the most interesting battles of the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.

The development team at DICE will have freedom to choose the moments they want, as long as they do not focus too much on The Force Awakens.

Star Wars Battlefront will incorporate a new Heroic system

The rumors are also saying that the development team is trying to introduce a new set of gameplay mechanics built around a Hero system.

Gamers will get access to points as they plan, based on their performance, and they can redeem them in order to play as some of the best-known characters from the world of Star Wars.

The Battle of Hoth and engagements on Endor have been confirmed so far by concept art from DICE.

Star Wars Battlefront will get a few play test sessions during the coming weeks, with a few lucky players able to get their hands on the experience before the official reveal.

The game is supposed to arrive on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, and the PlayStation 4 from Sony during the autumn of this year.
