Star Wars: Battlefront is expected to launch in the fall of this year, in order to deliver a video game experience for those who will see the new movies in the series, but the developers at DICE have not offered too many details about it so far and rumors are naturally bubbling up to fill this void.

The Making Star Wars fan site claims to have received a lot of information about the coming title from a source close to the creation process, which reveals that the campaign of the title will explore the entire history of the franchise up to the Star Wars VII moment.

Gamers will play both sides of the big conflict between Jedi and Sith assuming a variety of roles, with access to content from The Clone Wars and some moments that take place between Return of the Jedi and the new The Force Awakens, although limited details about the story of the movie will be offered.

The team at DICE has access to Pinewood Studios and can use actual props and sets in the game.

For each match of Star Wars: Battlefront, the developers will introduce a new Hero system, allowing players to accumulate points and cash them in to play as a more powerful and better-known character, although at the moment the concept is still being explored.

Battles will feature both land and space sections in some modes.

Initially, the source also stated that 64 players would be featured for each side for the biggest battles, but they later clarified that only 32 would be supported.

Star Wars: Battlefront DLC is already being developed

The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are apparently already thinking about the downloadable content pack system for Star Wars: Battlefront, which will reportedly include at least five deliveries, the first of which should be launched in 2015.

For the moment, the first planned DLCs are linked to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, introducing more characters once the movie is out and giving players a chance to participate in the biggest of the filmed battles.

Each package will have three new maps, more hero characters and options for both vehicles and ships.

The leak seems extensive and believable, but the info should be taken with a grain of salt until DICE and Electronic Arts deliver official info on Star Wars: Battlefront.
