The development team at Roberts Space Industries is announcing that all fans of the upcoming Star Citizen who are living in the European Union should get ready for the fact that their purchases associated with the game will be subjected to Value Added Tax starting on February 1, which basically means that they will have to pay more in order to get access to the game content they buy.

The official site reveals that the company will add a new European publishing division, which will be called Roberts Space Industries International, Ltd. and will be located in England.

The company says, “The good news stemming from this change is that we will now be closer to our many European customers (and able to establish community and customer service operations in dedicated areas) and will be able to ride out some of the exchange rate fluctuations troubling multinational sales operations.”

All purchases linked to Star Citizen will be subjected to VAT and gamers in the European Union will have to pay extra, with the team making the announcement now in order to allow all those who have been saving up for a special purchase to execute it as soon as possible.

Roberts Space Industries adds, “We will make a selection of limited edition and wave two ships available again during the week of January 26, in case there’s a past favorite you missed out on and would like to pick up before the international publishing switches over to RSI.”

Star Citizen is one of the best crowdfunded titles in the world of gaming

Star Citizen is a much awaited space sim which is expected to give players the freedom to explore a new universe as they see fit, using a wide variety of ships.

The developers plan to create complex combat mechanics, many ways to develop a ship and a dynamic economy that will allow players to exploit bubbles and to try and bankrupt their enemies.

Star Citizen is important because it has attracted a record level of funding from its backers and continues to get plenty of support.

At the moment, the space sim does not have a launch date but backers are getting access to various areas of the experience.
