Video game publisher Square Enix is working on an unannounced title that is at the moment only known as Project X, with a director that has also worked on Supreme Commander 2 and on Dungeon Siege III taking part in the development.

The LinkedIn profile of Director Nobu Tanaka mentions three main projects he has contributed to, with one of them being the mysterious Project X.

The profile of producer David Hoffman suggests that he may also be involved in the new game, but he seems to have changed information in order to eliminate mentions of Project X.

Square Enix has not commented on the existence of the Project X development and will probably not do so before it is ready to make an official announcement and deliver some information about it.

The fact that both people involved in Project X have worked on Dungeon Siege III and were involved with Supreme Commander 2 suggests that the new video game might also be created by a Western development team under the overall supervision of Square Enix representatives.

Well before it was officially announced, Dungeon Siege III, which is being created by a team at Obsidian , was also referred to as Project X, which might mean that another team at the same studio is working on a new title that might be unveiled after the launch of the hack and slash game.

The Japanese publisher has picked up the pieces of Western publisher Eidos and seems pretty interested in creating video games that appeal to audiences in North America and in Europe.

Supreme Commander 2 was a pretty successful real-time strategy release that offered an alternative to the Blizzard-made Starcraft II and Dungeon Siege III might capture some of the players that are eagerly awaiting the launch of Diablo III.
