After bringing its Hitman franchise to mobile platforms, Square Enix has decided that Lara Croft lineup of games deserves the same treatment.

During its E3 2015 conference, the company announced a new mobile game called Lara Croft GO, which will be available later this year on phones and tablets.

Unfortunately, developers did not confirm what platforms the game will be available on at launch, but if history is any indication, Lara Croft GO will be released on Android and iOS first.

If Square Enix plans to bring the game on Windows Phone platform as well, that will come slightly later than Android and iOS, but anything is possible, including a Windows Phone version at launch.

A turn-based puzzle in the Lara Craft style

Lara Croft GO is a turn-based puzzle game where players explore ruing of an ancient civilization, discover hidden secrets, as well as face dangerous challenges, in order to uncover the myth of the Queen of Venom.

According to Square Enix, Lara Croft GO is “a never-before-seen” take on the beloved franchise featuring challenging gameplay, amazing graphics and immersive soundtrack.

In order to bring a hugely popular franchise like Lara Croft on mobile devices, it requires a high level of expertise, which Square Enix definitely has if we take into consideration the previous Hitman titles that were huge hits on all mobile platforms.

Nothing else is known about Lara Craft GO, but since the Hitman mobile games cost something, we can safely assume that the upcoming title will cost a few bucks as well.

"GO is a celebration of our iconic franchises. With Hitman GO, we’ve distilled a brand we love to its core… the Essence of Assassination.

“Now, we are bringing this concept to a whole new level. Working in close partnership with Crystal Dynamics, we are excited to tap into the nostalgic love we have for the ultimate female adventurer, Lara Croft, and bring you… the Essence of Adventure!” said Patrick Naud, head of Studio at Square Enix Montréal.
