There is a certain appeal in spying from above, more so here

There has been much talk of drones lately, among the most recent being Samarai, but we can now check out something less unusual, albeit with a similar purpose.

RED5 has revealed the Spy Hawk, a remote-controllable airplane for when you just have to know what's going on in your neighbor's loft.

It can be controlled up to 600 meters away and can record video on a 4 GB SD card through a 5-megapixel camera.

A 7.4v lithium-ion polymer battery keeps the aircraft flying for up to 30 minutes on a single charge.

Speaking of which, the plane is remarkably stable, thanks to a stabilization system. As for convenience, an “autopilot” switch will turn on a gyroscope, making sure the plane sticks to a certain altitude at all times. That lets the plane stay in the air on its own while you focus on the video recording.

Finally, two Spy Hawks can use “intelligent automatic control and video signal binding” to lock two planes on the same flight pattern and record videos from both at the same time.

The price of one is £245.95 ($380 / €311). Check out above a video sample recorded from the plane.
