It seems that Sprint will not release the much-expected Treo Pro until more than two weeks from now. According to the latest reports on the Web, Palm's latest Windows Mobile smartphone will not start selling until February 15, although the handset was previously slated for launch on January 25. As many of you might already know, the Treo Pro is coming to the market as the replacement for the Treo 800w.

An internal memo from Best Buy was recently leaked into the wild, and it points towards the fact that Treo Pro has been pushed back to mid-February, although no official reason for the delay has been given and the device has already been shipped to Best Buy stores. Some suggest that the pushback might be driven by the fact that Sprint hasn't yet exhausted its 800w stock, so it could hold back the replacement until it does so.

It’s a common fact that Treo Pro is already available on the US market, although Sprint would be the first operator to add the device to its offering. Palm has previously sold a GSM version of the handset as an unlocked device, while in Europe the Treo Pro can be found in Vodafone's lineup.

Treo Pro is a smartphone designed using the hallmark of the Treo line. It is a candybar device featuring a touchscreen with a 320x320 pixel resolution and a QWERTY thumb-keyboard. The handset runs on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and includes the standard pack of productivity applications. Treo Pro is powered by a 400 MHz processor from Qualcom and features built-in GPS receiver, a 2.0-megapixel camera and external microSD card slot.

The Treo Pro model that will come on Sprint is reported to be a CDMA version with EV-DO. Besides that, the phone sports Wi-Fi and Stereo Bluetooth. According to the carrier, it will include a 1500 mAh battery able to deliver up to 5 hours of talk time.

The price of the Palm Treo Pro should be set at $200 with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate.
