Mobile phone carrier Sprint has just announced the availability of a new device on its airwaves, the award-winning MiFi 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Novatel Wireless, which was built to offer connectivity to a number of up to five devices that sport Wi-Fi capabilities. With the MiFi 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot, users can easily create a personal hotspot while on the go, so as to be able to access the Internet from other devices too, using the carrier's network.

The device came to Sprint's network with the MiFi OS on board, complemented with widgets and application support, so as to enhance the capabilities of the MiFi beyond just Internet connectivity.

“Its predecessor, the MiFi 2200 by Novatel Wireless, was the industry’s first and leading 3G Intelligent Mobile Hotspot. This version with 4G accessibility offers download speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G service,” the wireless carrier notes.

“It also features an intuitive external display with status indicators for battery, signal strength, GPS, roaming and number of connected devices as well as improved battery life and shared storage capability through a microSD slot for up to a 32GB memory card.”

Sprint's MiFi 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot comes with support for various desktop operating systems, including Windows, Macintosh and Linux.

The MiFi 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot can be purchased on a Sprint 3G/4G Mobile Broadband Plan for as low as $49.99 per month.

The new device would offer support for both the Sprint 3G and 4G networks, so that users could enjoy enhanced speeds where the faster 4G connectivity is available.

“As the 17th 4G-capable device announced from Sprint, MiFi 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot will cost $79.99 (excluding taxes) on a new two-year service agreement (or eligible upgrade),” Sprint notes.

The new device was made available through Direct Ship on April 3rd, and should arrive on other retail channels as well (including the carrier's website) starting April 17th.
