The patch is going to fix the problems encountered when texting users from other carriers.

Are you a Sprint customer? Do you use a Palm 700wx Windows Mobile 5.0 enabled smartphone? Then you surely have experienced problems when trying to send SMSs to people that are on other carrier's networks. If this is the case, then you should also know that Palm has released a patch that will fix all the texting problems their handset was having on the Sprint network.

The Palm officials have declared that they have rolled out the patch in discussion because they wanted to improve "the performance and reliability" of the the mentioned handset. This is not quite the exact truth if one considers the fact that the 700wx users were left only with the choice of sending text messages to the fellow Sprint users and with no possibility whatsoever to get in touch through the text channel with people from other carriers. If this is not something much serious than an "improvement in performance and reliability" than what one should call it? A minor inconvenience? I don't think so.

Anyway, publishing the patch so fast, compared to the promised end of the year release date, actually washes out some of the guilt on the Palm side, and - as the people that have already applied it to their phones are saying - the thing works like a charm giving the Sprint customers immediate access to text messaging with people using any other US carrier.

If you want to apply the patch go HERE and follow the instructions supplied by Palm on this subject. One piece of advice though, you shouldn't use this patch if you are not a Sprint user, because it seems that the other 700wx's on the wild at this moment are not having problems similar to the one experienced by the customers of the Sprint carrier.

Happy updating and leave a word if it works as it should.
