Recently, mobile phone carrier Sprint has made available for pre-order on its website a brand new, appealing smartphone running under Google's Android operating system, the Kyocera Echo.

Sprint customers interested in the purchase of the new device would find it available on the carrier's website here with a price tag of $199 attached to it, upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after $100 instant rebate.

“Requires a two-year agreement with eligible upgrade (or new-line activation) on an Everything plan with data, plus $10/month Premium Data Add-on,” the wireless services provider notes on its website.

The new mobile phone is set to become available for pick up on at sprint starting with April 17th, the wireless carrier announced.

The main feature of the new device would be its 3.5-inch dual touchscreen displays, boasting a WVGA resolution each, which can be used together as a larger, 4.7-inch screen.

Here's what Sprint has to say on the matter:

Kyocera Echo features two high-resolution WVGA touchscreen displays connected by a three-dimensional “pivot hinge” that enables the two displays to operate independently, side-by-side or combined to form an oversized 4.7-inch (diagonal) integrated display.

The Super Copper Alloy hinge is so unique it has six patents pending, and so tough it has passed severe durability testing.

The new mobile phone is powered by Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, and sports a 5-megapixel camera with flash, auto focus, digital zoom, and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

Some of the main features of the new device would include Stereo Bluetooth 2.1 (+ EDR), 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and more.

Corporate (Exchange ActiveSync) and personal (POP & IMAP) e-mail, IM (Google Talk), text messaging are supported too, as well as applications available for download via the Android Market.

Additional info on the new mobile phone can be found on Sprint's website here, where users can also pre-order it.
