Sprint Nextel has introduced an e-mail client for some of its current mobile phones, enabling their customers to access their mail accounts from AOL, Windows Live or yahoo, directly from their handsets, as well as add other POP3 or IMAP mail accounts.

"With Sprint Mobile Email, Sprint customers now have one place to go to check all of their email right on their wireless phones," said Jack Baker, director of wireless data messaging and communities for Sprint. "By making mobile email look and act closer to the desktop email experience, Sprint is giving its customers a familiar and easy way to access multiple email accounts while on the go."

Sprint Mobile Email is available for download at no additional charge in the case of Sprint data subscribers and has a couple of useful features.

The User has the ability to view other folders like sent messages or drafts, can compose messages while outside of data coverage and save them for later sending or set up alerts for when new mail arrives.

Each e-mail account has a separate tab at the top of the screen. The tabs allow an easy transition between different accounts and enable the user to view the inbox from each particular provider as well as options such as open, delete, reply to, forward or send.

So basically, with this service and a handheld with a QWERTY keyboard, this should do just as well as using your e-mail on the PC, especially when on-the-run.
