Samsung and Sprint have a long history together, which is why it won’t come as a surprise if the carrier is among the first, if not the first, to offer the third-generation Galaxy smartphone.

Unveiled earlier this month, Samsung Galaxy S III has been confirmed in Europe for May 30. Still, the South Korean company promised it would launch the super-phone in the United States as well, though no exact release dates have been given.

Well, at least Samsung mentioned that the Galaxy S III would be available in the States this summer via multiple carriers and authorized resellers. Canadian customers will be able to grab this one too, though there is no release date either.

Samsung Galaxy S III is equipped with an Exynos 4212 Quad chipset that packs four cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. There’s also a powerful Mali-400MP graphics processing unit.

Unfortunately, the device does not come with LTE support, which is the main reason Samsung had to replace its own chipset with another one that offers this capability. LTE is almost mandatory in the US, so Samsung will include a Qualcomm solution onto its Galaxy S III.

The information has been recently confirmed by the folks over at Pocketnow who got their hands on the device's user agent profile.

The UAProf mentions that the LTE-enabled SPH-L710, also known as Galaxy S III, will be powered by a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor.

In addition, it has also been confirmed that Sprint will release the 16GB model of Galaxy S III, though other models might arrive in the US later this year.

Samsung officially announced it would launch three Galaxy S III variants with different amounts of storage: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Nevertheless, the smartphone also packs a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).
