Wireless carrier Sprint recently announced the launch of a new affordable device on its airwaves, namely the Samsung Seek. According to the company, the new mobile phone comes to the market with great messaging capabilities in a compact form factor, while sporting a full-QWERTY slide-out keyboard, a touchscreen display, and support for Sprint's 3G network. At the same time, the handset comes in three color options, including Cool Blue and Scarlet Red, which are already available in stores, and Fantasy Pink, which should arrive on June 6.

The new Samsung Seek is available for purchase from Sprint featuring a price tag of $29.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate (taxes and surcharges excluded). The handset can be acquired from all Sprint retail channels, including telesales and the company's website.

In addition to being an affordable device, the new Samsung Seek comes with eco-friendly features, including: - Several plastic elements - the inner tray, bags for literature and the battery, and mailing envelope - are replaced with paper-based solutions. - Box and inner tray contain at least 90 percent post-consumer waste (PCW) paper fiber, are 100 percent recyclable, and come from sustainable forests. Top sheets and liners are chlorine-free, printed with soy inks, and have a water-based aqueous coating. - Mailing label contains 30 percent PCW paper fiber, is 100 percent recyclable, has a water-based acrylic adhesive, and is attached with glue dots that are RoHS and REACH compliant. - Literature band contains at least 30 percent PCW paper fiber and is 100 percent recyclable. Among the phone's specs and features, we can count a 1.3-megapixel photo snapper, support for microSD memory cards of up to 32GB, enhanced messaging capabilities, including text messaging, picture messaging and instant messaging, fast access to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, Internet browsing, music player, support for Sprint Family Locator, and others more. According to Sprint, the support Seek includes for its Now Network is another feature of the device that should enhance the experience users receive from it.

“Sprint is committed to environmental sustainability and product responsibility,” said Kevin Packingham, Sprint senior vice president-Product Development. “Each time customers use the postage-paid mailing label with the box to recycle an old device, they are helping keep electronic and packaging waste out of landfills and support Internet safety for kids. All net proceeds from the sale of recycled equipment collected will be used to fund and promote 4NetSafety, a charitable program of Sprint Project Connect.”
