As expected, Sprint has just announced the availability of its Express affordable Android smartphone. Express from Sprint can be purchased via carrier's online store and retail locations for just $19.99 (15 EUR).

However, the deal requires customers to sign up for a new-line activation (or eligible upgrade), on an Everything Data Plan with Premium Data add-on and two-year agreement after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Those who want to activate the mobile hotspot option must pay an additional $29.99 per month, but should know that the monthly mobile hotspot data usage is limited to 5GB of data while on the Sprint network.

Leaked several days ago, Express from Sprint is an ultra-affordable Android smartphone that features a standard bar form factor.

The handset runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform and comes pre-loaded with Sprint ID, which allows users to further customize their mobile phone.

With Sprint ID users can download additional apps, widgets, shortcuts, ringtones and wallpapers in a few simple clicks. They are all grouped in Sprint ID packs, which are free to download, as long as the customers has an Everything Data plan.

Express from Sprint comes with a 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display, and offers users the advantages of BlackBerry-esque QWERTY keyboard, which provides users a smooth texting experience.

On the back, the smartphone sports a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and video recording capabilities. Connectivity options are all covered via Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, microUSB and built-in GPS with A-GPS receiver.

On the inside, Express from Sprint is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz processor, but there's no word on the amount of memory. However, users will be able to expand the storage amount via the microSD card slot up to 32GB.

The phone is powered by a high-capacity 500mAh Li-Ion, but the carrier has yet to announce its lifetime parameters.
