Sprint has just announced the sequel to the popular Samsung Transform, the Samsung Transform Ultra.

However, while the original Transform was delivered with Android 2.1 Eclair at launch, the Samsung Transform Ultra runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Touted as a premium Android-based device, Samsung Transform Ultra provides users access to more than 250,000 apps via Android Market.

Just like its predecessor, the Transform Ultra comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard for fast and accurate typing.

Although Samsung and Sprint have yet to announce the phone's price tag and release date, the carrier mentions that the Transform Ultra will be available at an “affordable price.”

In addition, rumors has it that Samsung Transform Ultra will hit shelves in time for the holiday season.

The smartphone comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with 262k colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution, along with accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

Furthermore, the Transform Ultra is equipped with a single core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8655 processor, which is slightly more powerful than Transform's 800 MHz CPU.

There's also a 3-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash on the back, as well as a VGA front-facing camera for video chat while on the go.

Obviously, the smartphone will be delivered with Sprint ID, which allows users to customize their phones based on their needs and interests. Sprint ID packages include ringers, wallpapers, apps and widgets, which can be downloaded directly on the phone.

Samsung Transform Ultra packs 512 MB of RAM, 2GB of ROM, and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Although the manufacturer stated that the phone includes a free 2GB memory card in the sales package, Sprint doesn't mentions anything about it.

Other highlights of the phone include: WiFi and GPS connectivity, Stereo Bluetooth technology and 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery (up to 7 hours continuous talk time).
