HTC Touch Diamond is finally confirmed to be released in the US via Sprint, the third largest North American mobile carrier. The Diamond appears as coming soon on the Bluefish Sprint web page, with the estimated release date sometime this month (September).

Although there are no official details yet about the price of Touch Diamond from Sprint, a leaked roadmap has brought to the light this aspect too. Thus, we now know that US mobile users who want to own an HTC Touch Diamond will have to pay $399.99 with a contract agreement for two years, or $549 without a contract.

Sprint's Touch Diamond will feature the following: Windows Mobile 6.1, a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 480 x 640 pixels, HTC's TouchFlo 3D interface, CDMA and EVDO Rev A connectivity for high-speed data transfers, Wi-Fi, internal GPS, 3G graphics processor, Music and Video players, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, stereo FM radio with RDS, Opera Mobile browser, email, document viewer and editor, a 3.15 Megapixel auto focus camera and 4GB of internal memory (not expandable unfortunately).

The CDMA version of Touch Diamond is already available in North America, but only in Canada, offered by Telus. The main difference between the CDMA and the European / Asian GSM Diamond (besides the connectivity one) is the fact that the first handset doesn't come with the fancy back pattern of the latter and it's a bit thicker.

After launching the Touch Diamond (in mid-September), Sprint will also release the other new Pocket PC from HTC, namely the Touch Pro. This is said to come on October 19, for a retail price a bit higher than the one of Diamond: $579.99. The price is justified by the fact that the Touch Pro brings about all the features of the first device, plus a full QWERTY keyboard and TV out (both of which are missing on the Diamond).
