As expected, Sprint has just confirmed that it will carry the HTC One max phablet, but has not offered details on the exact release date and pricing options.

According to the carrier, customers will be able to purchase the HTC One max at some point “later this year” for a price that will be announced closer to launch.

“Over the years, Sprint has teamed up with HTC to bring our customers some of the most innovative devices in smartphone history. I am pleased to see our relationship continue to grow as we launch the newest addition to the HTC One family, HTC One max,” says Sprint.

HTC One max is already available for purchase in the UK exclusively via Vodafone, but is likely to be picked by other carriers in the near future as well.

The smartphone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 5.5 UI out of the box, but we expect the Taiwanese handset maker to offer an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade soon after the new platform goes official.

On the inside, the One max features a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Sprint has yet to announce whether it will carry both 16GB and 32GB models, but the good news is that both versions come with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

The main selling point of the HTC One max is the huge 5.9-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and 373ppi (pixel density). Another interesting feature is the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.

Last but not least, HTC One max sports a 4-UltraPixel main camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (video recording). A secondary 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera is included as well.
