Today, wireless carrier Sprint announced that its Sprint 4G service was at the moment available in the Pennsylvania cities of Harrisburg, Lancaster, Reading and York. According to the company, the availability of its service offers people in the area the possibility to enjoy mobile broadband connectivity whether they are at home, at work or at the coffee shop. Moreover, Sprint 4G provides fast mobile download speeds and improved web browsing, while offering support for streaming video, and more.

The Sprint 4G service is now available in 32 markets across the United States. The carrier has recently put in place the Sprint Free Guarantee, which enables them to try 4G for 30 days and to cancel the service in case they are not satisfied. The speeds offered by Sprint 4G are up to 10 times faster than those available on 3G networks. Users can enjoy these advanced speeds on any Wi-Fi-enabled device through the Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Sierra Wireless, not to mention that they will be able to purchase the first Android-based handsets with WiMAX connectivity, the HTC EVO 4G, also with hotspot capabilities.

“We powered up 4G in south central Pennsylvania today, allowing commuters, time-stressed parents, gamers, teens or anyone the ability to make fast, mobile Internet connectivity portable and private,” said Karen Paletta, regional vice president, Sprint. “You no longer have to sit at a coffeehouse on an unsecure Wi-Fi connection to enjoy fast speeds on your laptop. With an Overdrive you can enjoy a true mobile broadband experience with any Wi-Fi-enabled device.”

As stated above, Sprint is committed to delivering 4G services across the United States, and the new launch is meant to reaffirm that. Following the 32 markets that already enjoy 4G connectivity, Sprint's services will arrive in additional areas in 2010, including Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, St. Louis and Washington, D.C. 40 million people can enjoy 4G coverage from Sprint, and the service should cover a total of 120 million people by the end of 2010.
