Spotify has published its 2011 review. Everyone is doing the same these days, but Spotify is in an interesting position since it has access to what the people are listening to, not just what TV and radio is playing. Not that there's much of a difference.

"How was 2011 for you? It’s been an incredible year for Spotify – we launched in new countries including the US, made music more social than ever with Facebook, and opened up Spotify to a new world of apps. We liked 2011!," Spotify boasted.

"But how was 2011 for music? What were the most popular tracks of the year? Find out how your favourites fared in our Review of the Year," it said.

Spotify has put together a top 100 tracks of the year for several of the countries it's available in.

It's an interesting look at what people are listening to by themselves, without peer pressure and without it being shoved down their throats.

As you'd expect, most of the top 10 charts are dominated by pop superstars like Rihanna and Adele. And Pitbull of course, he seems to be in half of the top 10 songs in one way or another.

The latest The Lonely Island and Akon collaboration, boasting about their latest achievement, proved to be a breakout hit in Norway, it's the third most popular song in the country in 2011.

As for Spotify itself, it's certainly been its best year. It finally launched in the US, leading to a surge in users, including paying ones.

But perhaps an even bigger move was the Facebook integration it debuted at the social network's f8 conference, which lead to a big increase in engagement. Overall, Spotify is ending the year on a high note and 2012 promises to be a big one for consolidation and growth in the music streaming market.
