Owners of devices running under the BlackBerry operating system from Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion have now the possibility to download and install a new application on their devices, namely Spotify.

Only a preview of the mobile software has been made available for download at the moment, but it still packs a nice range of capabilities, aimed at providing users with a great experience while on the go.

“This is the first preview of our Spotify Mobile application for Blackberry. With many of the great features available on other Spotify Mobile apps, get ready for a world of music,” Spotify notes on its website.

This is the sixth mobile application that the company has made available for download so far, aimed at enabling BlackBerry users to benefit from a great music listening experience whenever they are.

Some of the main features of the new application include:

- Million of songs available instantly on your BlackBerry. - Offline playlists – listen to music with no mobile connection and avoid using your data allowance - Create and sync playlists - Star your favourite tracks - Search tracks, artists, album - Browse “What’s new” and “Top tracks” - Scrobble tracks to Last.fm - Receive music from friends via the inbox

For those out of the loop, we should note that while the Spotify Mobile application is available for a free download, the service that accompanies it is not.

Those who would like to take advantage of what Spotify has to offer to them will have to have a Premium subscription. Through it, they will be able to stream songs from the Spotify catalogue.

The company also notes that they have already tested the application on a series of BlackBerry devices, including 9780 Bold, 9700 Bold, 9300 Curve, 9000 Bold, 8520 Curve.

Also, the application is now compatible only with devices that running on GSM networks. CDMA devices and Torch 9800 are not supported.
