Spore might be getting a new expansion in March next year. Listings from both Gamestop and Amazon regarding pre-orders reveal that a videogame called Spore: Galactic Adventures will arrive on March 17, costing 29.99 dollars. Pre-order listings have been known to be wrong at times, listing bad release dates or prices way off the mark, but it's a safe bet to conclude that early in 2009, Spore players, and there are more than 2 million of them by the latest count, will be able to enjoy more content tied to the Space stage of the game.

In October, just as the Cute & Creepy Parts Pack was reaching gamers, Electronic Arts said that the new add on for the game would allow players to “beam down from their spaceships to explore new planets and earn rewards for completing challenging missions.” The publisher also said that a new Adventure editor would be included so that gamers interested in creating their own story arcs could “build and share online their own custom missions.”

The first add on pack for Spore, which arrived quickly after the launch of the game, only introduced new parts, which could be used in creature creation and was probably of little interest to most players.

The new add on pack, dubbed Galactic Adventures, will probably be more attractive if it significantly expands the gameplay of the Space stage. Still, Electronic Arts might enhance interest in Spore by releasing add ons or expansions that would bring new gameplay options to the other four stages, which feel barren at the moment.

When Spore was initially released, players were up in arms over the use of over restrictive DRM measures, which only allowed a limited number of installations and did not offer an option for multiple player accounts to be set up on the same gaming computer.
