DeviceVM, the company behind the instant-on Splashtop technology that has been featured on the laptop and desktop computer systems of several computer vendors, has recently announced that it will be adding search to its instant-on interface. To achieve this, the company has teamed up with the likes of Yahoo (in the US), Baidu (for China), and Yandex (Russia) to provide users with a branded search box in the Splashtop environment, which will consequently translate into faster access to the Internet from the moment the user's system has been booted up.

“Splashtop recognizes the increasing importance of web search, making it faster and more convenient than ever before. Through this new collaboration, search is available as soon as the PC is turned on, before the browser - or the OS - is even running,” said Mark Lee, CEO of DeviceVM. “We aim to expand and drive innovation in the computing marketplace by working with Web Search industry leaders to deliver a simple, branded search interface at the touch of a button.”

DeviceVM is aiming to bring the new feature to laptops, netbooks and desktops by sometime this September, providing users with quick access to Internet search. The company has also announced that Yahoo, Baidu and Yandex are the first partners that have jumped at the opportunity of having their search engines integrated in its instant-on platform.

“The search distribution landscape is changing, and Instant Search is one of the ways Yahoo! provides our users with a convenient and highly accessible Yahoo! Search experience,” said Tim Mayer, vice president, North America Search and Social Experiences, Yahoo! Inc. “Our collaboration with DeviceVM aligns perfectly with Yahoo! Search’s objective to make it easier and quicker to get things done.”

Splashtop is designed to allow users to select their preferred search engine, providing a level of customization that everyone should enjoy.

The new and improved Splashtop experience should become available to computer users by this autumn, sometime in September, the company announced.
