Spider-Man might have made a career out of being one of the good guys but, as it turns out, he too has his off moments every once in a while. To top it all off, it seems that, during such moments, Spider-Man can act bad enough to get in trouble with the law.

Media reports say that, this past weekend, Spidey got arrested in New York City on the grounds of bothering tourists, getting into a fight with a cop and punching him in the face, and trying to escape when officers attempted to arrest him.

Information shared with the public says the incident occurred in Times Square on Sunday. At that time, the superhero was just hanging about in this part of the city, ready and willing to sit for one or more photos with tourists.

At one point, a woman approached him and asked that he pose for a picture with her. Spider-Man agreed and, once the picture was taken, asked that the woman give him $5 (€3.7). She refused, and instead handed him a $1 (€0.7) bill.

Much to the woman's surprise, Spidey threw a fit, and started acting aggressive towards her. Things got so bad that a cop had to intervene and attempt to sort things out. As was to be expected, the cop sided with the tourist.

In a nutshell, the police officer told Spider-Man that, since taking pictures with tourists was not an actual job, he was only allowed to accept tips. Otherwise put, he had no right to demand that he be given a certain sum of money in exchange for the photo.

This made the superhero even angrier. Thus, Sky News tells us that, while the cop was trying to talk some sense into him, Spider-Man started yelling and even uttering words and phrases no decent person would ever be caught saying in public.

What's more, it appears that, when the cop tried to arrest him on account of disorderly conduct, the superhero punched him in the face and tried to make a run for it. Unfortunately, he was caught and taken into police custody by the abused cop and one of his colleagues.

Following this incident, Spider-Man faces criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer charges. Hence, he will probably spend some time behind bars. As far as the cop is concerned, word has it that he had to receive treatment for a cut and eye swelling.

In case anyone was wondering, the Spider-Man involved in this incident was not really a superhero. On the contrary, he was merely a man dressed up like Spider-Man. The police report on this case identifies the man as 25-year-old Junior Bishop.
