Spice, the Indian telecoms company that recently presented a Braille phone, has released a new Windows Mobile handset, named Spice D-1100, which will most probably be available only in India. The new device is presented as "India's first dual-SIM PDA", thus it comes with dual-SIM technology. This allows you to use two GSM SIM cards at the same time, hence it's like having two phones in one.

Spice says that the D-1100 is available as of now across India, for a retail price of 16,999 INR (a bit less than $400), coming with a 512MB memory card in the package. For a Windows Mobile powered handset, this price can pass as affordable.

In terms of network connectivity, the D-1100 features only quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS, hence no 3G and not even EDGE. But besides this, the specs of the new Spice handset are pretty nice, including: a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 256K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, stereo Bluetooth with A2DP, Google search integration, SMS and MMS capabilities, a 2 Megapixel camera (with multi shots, digital zoom and video recording), To Do list, Calendar, Calculator and 64MB of internal memory expandable via a microSD card with up to another 2GB.

Running on Windows Mobile 6.0, the new Spice handset also brings Windows Media Player, Microsoft Office Mobile, Microsoft Outlook Mobile and Internet Explorer Mobile. Moreover, the D-1100 allows users to use MSN for Instant Messaging.

Spice D-1100 weighs 123 grams, measures 111 x 58 x 15.7 millimeters (not that much for a handset presented as a PDA) and comes with a 1350 mAh battery that can offer a talk-time from 3 to 8 hours and a stand-by time of up to 130 hours.
