It turns out the Spice Girls are not reuniting, and nor are they touring with the Backstreet Boys

At the beginning of the week, several blogs and news sites reported on a piece of news that said the Spice Girls reunion was locked to happen sometime this year, with or without Victoria Beckham, and that the girls were also going on a world tour with equally famous in the '90s Backstreet Boys.

The reports said that Backstreet Boys member Brian Litrell confirmed the collaboration when he told the Sun, “We are actually in early talks about maybe doing a world tour together with the Spice Girls.”

It seemed too good to be true and, as it happens, it is just that. The Backstreet Boys are making a comeback, but they've just announced that they'll be going on the road with Avril Lavigne starting this summer, meaning there is no way they'll be able to join this alleged Spice Girls reunion.

Also, it was revealed that Litrell's interview was actually given some time ago, but the magazine chose, for some unknown reason to run with it this week.

Gossipcop took the liberty to contact Mel B's representative to try and get to the bottom of this darned reunion that has been going on ever since the Spice Girls performed on stage at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, and the entire world just realized they would like to see the girls get back together.

The representative positively denied there was a plan to join the Backstreet Boys on a world tour. Not to mention the fact that Victoria Beckham made a very clear point when she said that she woudn't be any part of the musical group anymore and that she put those days behind her, trying to focus on her fashion career at that moment.

This is sad news if you still have that Spice Girls poster on your bedroom wall and that “Girl Power” tattoo you got during that drunken night out, after their concert in Glasgow.

And just to pour salt on your fresh wound, all the other remaining four members of the band have expressed their wish and indeed their excitement at getting the Spice Girls reformed. This is what fueled the rumor in the first place, the fact that Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton gushed on separate occasions about how swell it would be to make a comeback to the stage with a tour and maybe even a new album.
