In our boring present, the Speedball is that variant of paintball that has so short match times that a game is over before you realize it has started. In the distant future, though, things are completely different and much more violent. At least that's what Ascaron seems to believe with the launch of Speedball 2 - Tournament, the ferocious and extreme PC sports game.

The rules are quite simple: two heavily armored teams fight a vicious battle in a futuristic arena for the possession of a steel ball. In order to win a game, you will have to punch the opposing players, smash them to the ground and use all the possible means that will bring the victory to you. There's no need to be soft in Speedball 2, and you'll see that as soon as you start a match.

The game comes with 32 teams to choose from and you will have to choose carefully between male, female or cyborg characters, each having its own strength and weakness. If you are not satisfied with what the developers have come up to, you can customize your player's skin, team colors and tags or even create your own team logo.

In single player you will be able to play the knock-out, cup or tournament modes, while the multiplayer will definitely bring the ultimate fun. There you will be able to subscribe to worldwide rankings, leagues or events and activate all sorts of goodies - create clan pages, team blogs and so on. You're the master, after all, and people should know everything about your brutal team and your overall Speedball skills. And to simplify that even more, you will have live news and replays which will keep you updated with the tournaments or team events and will allow you to watch full game replays in the Game-Center.

Ascaron's Speedball 2 - Tournament is available for purchase for ?19.99.
