The Paul Walker crash investigation is still under way but each day things are getting clearer as to what exactly caused the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT to spin out of control and violently hit a light post, killing its two occupants.

Sources close to the investigation disclosed, under the cover of anonymity, that speed alone was the determining factor in the crash. Previous speculations claimed that there might have been a tire blowout, a mechanical failure on the car's steering system, or even that the tarmac was covered with debris.

It is still not yet known how fast the car was traveling prior to the impact, but the investigators have obtained the car's three small black boxes and are looking at the data. They are hoping that they will not only find the terminal speed but also other bits of information such as throttle and engine readings or whether the airbags deployed.

More mechanical details will be obtained once Porsche engineers come to California next month in order to gather information from the on-board data collectors. It is believed that following this, the final verdict in the investigation will also be given.

Paul Walker was in the passenger seat of the car when it crashed at high speed into a lamp post and burst into flames. The driver was Paul's businesses partner and friend Roger Rodas and he also died in the crash. The official cause of death for the actor has been listed as “traumatic and thermal injuries.”

Meanwhile, work on the film “Fast & Furious 7” which was in the middle of production and starred Walker as one of the major characters, has been put on hold indefinitely, despite rumors that Walker's younger brother, who is a stuntman, will be replacing him. The brother has the same frame and roughly the same facial features and is believed to be the best alternative if the film is be continued.
