Microsoft has taken Windows Phone prices to new lows with the launch of Lumia 430 and Lumia 435 smartphones. The latter was released back in January, while the former was announced today.

Only Lumia 435 is now available for purchase, but the Lumia 430 should go on sale very soon. Those who haven't yet bought any of the two smartphones may want to read further to find out whether it's worth getting one, or the other.

First of all, Microsoft announced the Lumia 435 costs $75 (€70), while the Lumia 430 has been recently priced at only $70 (€65).

Although there's a $5 (€4) difference between the two low-end smartphones, some may want to be sure that they pay the right amount for any of the two. So, let's see what makes the Lumia 435 slightly more expensive than the Lumia 430.

Both Lumia 430 and Lumia 435 ship with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box, and they will be upgraded to Windows 10 for Phones at some point this year.

Moving on to specs, both smartphones sport 4-inch capacitive touchscreen displays that support 480 x 800 pixels resolution. They are equipped with similar 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, Adreno 302 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

Differences between the two phones are minimum

The cheapest Windows Phone handsets have microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB), as well as 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and VGA front camera for video calls.

Connectivity-wise, Lumia 430 and Lumia 435 offers the same options, such as Wi-Fi, HSPA+ (42Mbps/5.76Mbps), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with AGPS and GLONASS, microUSB 2.0 and FM Radio.

Lumia 430 is powered by a removable 1500 mAh battery, which should provide up to 720 hours of standby time or up to 13 hours of talk time, while the Lumia 435 features a 1560 mAh battery that offers 504 hours of standby time or up to 21 hours of talk time.

The size and weight of the smartphones are different as well, but other than that and the battery, Lumia 430 and Lumia 435 are pretty much the same, so whichever you get, you won't be in the wrong.
