Acer will offer the Aspire ES1 lineup at a friendly price

Late last month, Acer introduced a number of new products at its press event in New York, including a 4-in-1 convertible in the form of the Aspire Switch 10 and a bunch of colorful budget-friendly laptops.

We already talked about the Aspire V11 fanless laptops that showed up in Europe for a heftier price tag than expected (€301 / $301) but now it’s time to tell you a few things about the other notebooks that were introduced in the Big Apple alongside the V11.

As MobileGeeks notes, the Aspire ES1 series will be made available for consumers soon and will probably appeal to those of us who don’t need advanced performance or rely on a touchscreen to perform their daily tasks, including office work or doing school research.

Acer showed the Aspire ES1 in New York, as we previously mentioned, but the spotlight was upon the versatile Aspire Switch 10. However, we can now provide you with a bunch of extra details about this wallet-friendly device.

The Acer Aspire ES-1 is an entry-level notebook that could compete with the recently launched Lenovo G50, both in terms of price and specs.

Acer has added Intel’s latest Bay Trail processors under the hood, passing on the opportunity to implement one of the most advanced Haswell chips, in order to keep prices low.

The architecture used is based on an Intel Celeron N2830 (2x 2.16GHz and max burst speeds up to 2.41GHz), Intel Celeron N2930 (4x 1.83GHz and max burst speeds to 2.16GHz) or Intel Pentium N3530 (quad-core SoC clocked at 2.16GHz with max burst speeds up to 2.58GHz), depending on which model from the lineup you look at.

Note that all these chips are quite economical and have a max TDP of 7.5 watts. The display is the same for all models, arriving with a 15.6-inch form factor and boasting a simple HD panel (1366 x 768 pixels).

Moving on, the Bay Trail chips processors are fitted with 4GB to 8GB of internal memory and there’s a 500GB hard drive on board too, plus a DVD burner.

Other additions include N-WLAN, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet, three USB ports (one of which is supposedly a USB 3.0), HDMI out and an HD webcam.

In its quest to provide a cheap laptop, Acer has slipped in a 3220 mAh battery which is said to be able to provide approximately 4.5 hours of battery life. That’s pretty limited, but considering this is a budget laptop, we shouldn't complain.

Information is shady about pricing, but considering the spec list, the device will probably sell for around €250 / $250.
