We've heard of criminals attempting to smuggle drugs inside frozen meat, bread and other edible products, and it seems that their imagination has no limits.

Spanish police arrested two suspected drug traffickers for allegedly trying to smuggle 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of cocaine inside a sandwich.

One of the suspects, a 29-year-old Colombian man, was carrying a ham and melted cheese sandwich stuffed with nine cylindrical packets of cocaine. He was detained at a bus station in the Mediterranean beach town of Benidorm.

A photo published by the country's police force on Twitter shows the snack opened in half with the small, white wraps spread over the filling.

According to The Local, police later searched the man's house in Benidorm and found more than a kilo of cocaine, as well as marijuana and various tools to handle drugs. They also detained his 20-year-old roommate, who is also suspected of drug trafficking.

In a different drug haul, police at the southern Spanish port city of Algeciras have found a ship container with cocaine-filled pineapples. Apparently, more than 2,500 kilos of cocaine were stuffed inside the fruit, with an estimated street value of €150 million ($210 million). Police allowed the traffickers to transport the content of the ship to Madrid, where they seized the drugs.
