The three newest members of the ISS crew, all of them for the first time on the ISS and two of them for the first time in space, are now safely docked. They left Earth a couple of days ago, launching from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The Soyuz capsule took two days of spinning around the earth to finally get to the altitude, 254 miles or 408 km above Earth, and position needed to dock with the ISS.

The Soyuz TMA-06M concluded its first part successfully as the Soyuz capsule docked with the Poisk module of the ISS a short while ago.

Kevin Ford, Oleg Novitskiy and Evgeny Tarelkin have now joined Expedition 33, which is also made up of Suni Williams and Flight Engineers Aki Hoshide and Yuri Malenchenko. The capsule will be opened sometime later today to allow the three to step inside the ISS.

The three new astronauts will remain aboard for part of Expedition 34. 32 medaka fish have also been brought aboard, part of a scientific experiment.
