“Stupidest thing ever and just ridiculous”

Sorry, Internet, Kim Kardashian isn’t going to name her second baby with husband Kanye West, due sometime in the winter, South West. You fought the hard and brave battle, but Kim thinks it’s the “stupidest thing ever and just ridiculous.” In that particular order.

The reality star announced her second pregnancy in a promo for her reality show a few weeks back, and hours after the news broke, social media was already being flooded with name suggestions. Because she and Kanye named their first child North West (Nori, for short), South seemed like a pretty good bet for their second one.

No South West, thank you very much

Kim is still doing promo work for her book of selfies, “Selfish,” which came out in April. She phoned in on NPR to talk about it (audio below), and took the time to address some of the ongoing rumors about her pregnancy and plans for when the baby is born.

As per her own admission, they don’t include naming it South, whether it’s a boy or a girl. Speaking of which, don’t believe what you read about Kim being pregnant with a baby boy: she says they haven’t told anyone what they’re having.

“I don’t like South West, though, because that’s like - you know, North will always, you know, be better… And be more - she has a better direction… so I wouldn’t do that. I don’t think we’ll go with another direction,” she says. “I mean, everyone keeps on saying South, and I think it’s so stupid. Stupidest thing ever and just ridiculous.”

To paraphrase, it’s stupid to name your kid South West, but it’s not stupid and “just ridiculous” to have named your firstborn daughter North West.

Kanye’s special birthday, her book and politics

In the same chat, Kim talked about husband Kanye West and how she came up with the idea to rent out the Staples Center to help him celebrate his birthday.

She mentions how things evolved and she ended up recreating an actual basketball game for Kanye and his friends, and how thrilled he was to see what she’d done.

Because she was on the show to promote the selfies book, she also discussed the concept behind it (with humor, we might add), how she’d become “too cool” to do the duckface in selfies, and how “riveting” an experience it would provide.

Because Kim knows never too take herself too seriously in this type of interviews, she also took part in a game about North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

You can listen to the entire chat below, while perusing some of the finest Twitter suggestions on why she and Kanye should name their child South. Or Beyonce.
