They launched the Adaptive IPS Tech

Sourcefire, Inc. yesterday announced that the new Sourcefire 3D System version 4.7 has been released and it makes Adaptive IPS available for the first time. This new system has been called a "one size fits all" and can basically adapt to the network settings that it protects. So, instead of modifying some parts of a network, in order for the IPS to properly defend it, now you don't need to stress yourself anymore, because this one can fit right in. And just in case you didn't know, IPS stands for Intrusion Prevention System. And like I've said before, networks need to be both secure and fast-working, so I can say that after optimizing their network, admins will not have to worry much about changes they will have to do to it (changes designed for a better protection), because this ISP will work on the network that already exists. I guess "adaptive" would be they keyword here.

The new 3D System 4.7 has plenty of features, but here are the ones that are truly worth mentioned: the RNA-Recommended Rules (recommends Snort IPS rules), Sourcefire RUA (helps resolve incidents faster), Sourcefire NetFlow Analysis (extends Sourcefire NBA capabilities) Nmap Integration (an open source scanning tool) and usability and performance enhancements as well.

"The Sourcefire 3D System 4.7 release is our largest product release yet, significantly expanding the capabilities of our IPS and NBA Enterprise Threat Management (ETM) solutions," said Martin Roesch, CTO and Founder of Sourcefire. "Sourcefire has a strong history of innovation and we are again stepping out in front of the competition with our new Adaptive IPS technology and our new Sourcefire RUA and Sourcefire NetFlow Analysis products. These new capabilities, combined with our tightly integrated management framework, afford Sourcefire customers with unparalleled protection against both internal and external threats."
