CS fans are screaming for something like this, but is it possible?

In addition to the maps included with Counter-Strike, there are many custom maps available created by map-making programs. Map maker for the Shadow of the Colossus, Soenke c. Seidel has custom made a SotC-themed Counter-Strike map which unfortunately, is just too big to actually use on a server. So even though it's a real beauty, not being able to use it for matches surely makes some CS gamers wish they hadn't heard about it in the first place.

What's the purpose of working on something like this if the main feature of the game (CS online matches I mean ) is not able to use it?

Here's a little something about Shadow of the Colossus for everyone to understand just how much of a pity it is to have the idea of playing CS on the game's tremendously big map but not being able to actually do it (concerning online matches).

The game takes place in a fantasy setting with most of the game's events occurring within a vast and unpopulated peninsula separated from the outside world by a mountain range to its north. The presence of ruins and other ancient structures indicate that the area was once a settlement.

The region is only accessible via a small cleft in the mountains to the north, leading to a massive stone bridge. This bridge spans half the distance of the landscape and terminates at a large temple called the "Shrine of Worship" located at its center. It is, however, forbidden to enter the land, which is characterized by diverse geographical features such as lakes and deserts, in addition to man-made structures.

So just imagine the amount of coordination and synchronization needed to play on this kind of map with and against your friends. Everything happening on a larger scale, bigger groups teaming up, other, more complex strategies would be born and CS would be on everyone's lips again in no time.
