Sony has just confirmed that Sorcery, a special kind of magic simulator designed to work with the PlayStation Move motion controls that was presented to the world back at E3 2010, is now scheduled to appear for the PlayStation 3 next spring.

Sony has tried to really make its PlayStation Move motion control system a key part in the marketing of its PS3 home console but, sadly, it didn’t really achieve this, partly because there weren’t a lot of games that took advantage of the Move technology.

Things are changing, however, as slowly but surely a pretty consistent catalog of games that are either focused on the Move or at least have some functionality for it is being formed. The latest Move-focused title will be Sorcery, the magic simulator that we got to see one year ago, which has now been overhauled with new visuals and lots of different gameplay mechanics.

“Coming out of E3, we knew there were some things we weren’t happy with,” said Brian Upton, the design director for Sorcery. “We really wanted to re-tool the game’s look, its world. We had the gameplay we wanted, but it just wasn’t ready for public consumption.”

The game sees players enter the magical boots of Finn, a sorcerer who accidentally unleashes the Nightmare Queen upon his land and must now fight against her minions in order to stop the destruction of the world.

“On their journey, players will encounter a multitude of enemies, solve ingenious puzzles, learn powerful spells, and craft strange potions with the in-game alchemy system. With over eight spells that can be used in various combinations and countless items to discover and collect, Sorcery immerses players in a unique fantasy adventure like never before,” Sony said.

Check out the main features of the game below, as highlighted by the Japanese company.
