Model, actress and singer Sophie Monk will soon be Mrs. Jimmy Esebag. The star has recently announced her engagement to her boyfriend, who is 20 years her senior and whom she describes as her “best friend.”

People magazine reports that the star broke the news of her engagement on a radio show, when she also gushed about being the happiest woman on earth because she was about to get married.

“He’s a keeper,” Monk said of her fiancé on an Australian radio show on 2Day FM, shortly after gushing “I got engaged!”

It turns out that Esebag is not a newcomer in Sophie’s life: he’s actually been friends with her for a very long time before they became romantically involved.

“It feels right. I think you know when you know,” Monk said of the engagement. On her Facebook page, she was a bit more generous with details on her future husband, saying she couldn’t have asked for anything better and that she was looking forward for 2011.

“It’s going to be a good year. My best friend of a long, long time just happens to be my soul partner; funny how life takes you where you are finally meant to be,” she wrote, as per People.

People also informs that, though Esebag’s name may not ring a bell with everyone hearing the news of his engagement, he is well connected in the industry of showbiz.

“Her new fiancé, 50, is the chairman of United Licensing Group, which owns the rights to the Playboy brand, and is also involved with Elite Modeling Agency, according to The Sydney Morning Herald,” People writes.

Before she became Esebag’s fiancée, Monk was also engaged to Benji Madden, right before he started dating Paris Hilton.

She was also romantically linked to American Idol host and radio personality Ryan Seacrest, and “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly.
