The strange camera device will probably only launch in Asia

Sony is a device manufacturer mostly known for its cameras, smartphones and tablets. At some point, the company also made VAIO laptops/convertibles and eReaders, but this is not the case anymore, as the tech giant pulled out the business to focus its efforts on making devices from the above-mentioned categories.

At some point in the past, we told you that Sony had teased an image showing a bunch of perfume bottles, hinting towards a camera announcement. Apparently, the device maker is looking to fuel the contemporary selfie craze by rolling out a selfie-centric camera that comes with an odd design.

Sony seems to think selfie-centric devices are the way to go, as proven by the newly announced Xperia C3 smartphone, but for those who would like to disguise their selfie-taking activities from curious onlookers, the company will soon offer a solution, albeit it being an odd one.

The Sony Chinese Cyber-Shot website has posted a teaser image of the upcoming digital camera, which bizarrely enough (or not) will come in the shape a perfume bottle (via Digi-wo and Weibo).

The device has a smartphone-looking display and like any self-respecting perfume bottle has a transparent crystal cap and something that could be called a golden pump where the extremely large camera sensor lives.

What’s more, the cap can be rotated so if you feel less of a Narcissus one day, you can snap regular photographs too.

We have a few images showcasing the camera in the wild along with what appears to be some promo images of models/ladies snapping selfies in public using this odd Sony perfume bottle.

As for specifications, some of them leaked in the wild as well. Like we have already told you, the balmy camera will belong to the Cyber-Shot family and will apparently pack a 1 / 2.3” Exmor RS sensor and dual-conversion Sony G lens.

Furthermore, the selfie snapper will boast optical image stabilization, a 3-inch display, a memory card slot, Wi-Fi and NFC that will help you share your masterpieces as soon as you have taken them.

Naturally, the camera will be light and portable and will measure 57.7 x 125 x 20.1 mm / 2.2 x 4.92 x 0.79 inches with a weight of just 136 g / 0.29 lbs (with battery and card included).

It appears Sony will be unveiling this bizarre piece of machinery as soon as this week on Friday, August 22. The camera will probably go on sale in Asia and we have no idea whether the company will market it worldwide or not.
