Some of you might already be acquainted with Sony – Hasselblad collaboration announced last year, which was aiming at releasing a new E-mount camera, a compact camera and a DSLR segment product.

It appears that this collaboration will also bring a brand new camera sensor, which is currently under development. According to SonyAlphaRumors, this new sensor will feature a highly increased dynamic range due to a brand new technology that gives each pixel its own electronic shutter time.

Using this technology, the new sensor will be capable of capturing HDR-like photos with a single exposure as different areas of the sensor could have different exposure values.

The sensor will be announced early 2014, but it's unclear whether it will power a new Hasselblad medium format camera or a new generation of full frame cameras. Recent rumors also state that Sony is working on a new 54MP full frame sensor for their next-generation mirrorless and DSLR cameras.
