The tablet has been leaked before and not so long ago was spotted going through the FCC

Yesterday we finally got the long-awaited confirmation that Sony’s new tablet, so far dubbed Castor, would make an appearance at MWC 2014 after all.

It will be called the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 and its specifications leaked in full splendor yesterday. Now the same @evleaks has posted the first press render of the device.

But unlike many other occasions, another leakester called @GadgetLeaks has posted more images of Castor and has confirmed the specifications we saw appear just a day before.

The pictures made available by the second Twitter account shows the tablet will arrive in black and white, with a huge bezel and magnetic charging pins on the bottom.

As a round-up, the Sony Xperia Z2 is expected to arrive with a 10.1-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA display and it will draw power from a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU, fitted with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD card).

The tablet will be a durable one, since it will come bundling properties that make it dust-resistant and waterproof.

Apart from that, there’s going to be two cameras onboard (8MP on the back and 2MP in front) but so far we have no info related to the connectivity ports we’re going to see onboard.

The new Xperia Z2 will be powered by a sensible 6000 mAh battery and will arrive in Wi-Fi and LTE flavors.

Speaking of which, @GadgetLeaks has also revealed the dimensions of the upcoming product (266 x 172 x 6.4 mm / 10.4 x 6.77 x 0.25 inches), while adding that the Wi-Fi model weights 426 g / 0.9 lbs and the LTE one 439 g / 0.9 lbs.

Last but not least, Castor will come running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, which is very good news, considering how slow Sony is when it comes to providing updates for its devices. The tablet will be unveiled next week in Barcelona, at MWC 2014.
