Mobile phone users in Malaysia can now purchase the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile, none other than the Xperia Z2.

The handset was made official in February, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and it has been quietly put up for grabs in the country, with model number D6503 attached to it.

Those who would like to purchase it should head over to Sony Mobile’s Malaysian portal, where Xperia Z2 is listed at RM 2,399 (£440 / €539 / $742).

As XperiaBlog notes, the phone has been released in all three color flavors that were originally announced for it, including Black, Purple, and White.

As the news site also points out, users in Malaysia get the change to purchase the mobile phone at the lowest price that it has been released with on various markets out there.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Sony Xperia Z2 was made official with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a full HD resolution, being a tad larger than the previous models in the series, the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z.

The handset also sports a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, complemented by 3GB of RAM, which should ensure that it will be able to provide its users with great performance levels at all times.

Moreover, Sony made the handset public with 16GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, the handset sports a 20.7-megapixel camera, which can record videos in 14K resolution, and which is one of the main selling points that Xperia Z2 came to shelves with. At the same time, the phone sports a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The specification list of the new mobile phone also includes 4G LTE connectivity, along with the usual set of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC capabilities. Moreover, the device sports a built-in GPS receiver for navigation purposes, along with the entire set of common sensors.

For those out of the loop, we should also note that Xperia Z2 comes to the market with dust- and water-proof capabilities, being IP58 and IP55 certified. The mobile phone is also coated with scratch-resistant glass, for increased resistance.

The smartphone runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system right out of the box but also sports a great deal of customizations and exclusive applications and features coming from Sony Mobile itself.
