Sony Xperia Z2, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from the Japanese mobile phone maker, is now available for purchase in Australia on the network of wireless carrier Telstra too, after landing on shelves at Optus a few weeks ago.

The smartphone has been released with the same high-end hardware capabilities that were announced for it back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, as well as with some new treats inside.

To be more precise, those of you who will purchase the new mobile phone will receive free access to the latest Michael Jackson album “XSCAPE.”

Users will be able to access the album via the Xperia Lounge app and will also receive an additional track from the singer, one that is available exclusively for Telstra customers.

In a blog post, Telstra also explains that the free access to the “XSCAPE” album won’t be available only for Xperia Z2 users, and that those who grab a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone or an Xperia Z2 Tablet by May 31 will also enjoy it.

“This offer is part of an exciting collaboration that saw Sony audio engineers consulting with visionary Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid to re-create the center seat experience of his recording studio on the Xperia Z2, so that users can hear the music just as its creators intended,” Telstra notes.

Those who would like to grab the new Xperia Z2 from the wireless carrier will find it listed on this page on the company’s website, on plans starting at $70 (€47.6) per month, with $6 (€4) per month device repayments (a minimum total cost of $1680/€1142), as Ausdroid notes.

The Sony Xperia Z2 arrives at Telstra with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a full HD resolution and is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor.

Moreover, the smartphone features 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, as well as a MicroSD memory card slot for expansion purposes. On the back, it sports a 20.7-megapixel camera with support for 4K video recording, complemented by a front camera for video calling.

Xperia Z2 also features support for Telstra’s 4G LTE network, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity, along with a built-in GPS receiver. At the same time, it sports the entire range of usual sensors, measures 146.8 x 8.2 x 73.3mm, and weighs 163 grams.

The handset is powered by a 3200mAh battery with STAMINA Mode and runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, with a great deal of customizations and enhancements coming from Sony Mobile itself.
