There have been lots of rumors regarding the upcoming release of the Xperia Z2 in India, but Sony is still mum on the availability and price tag of its flagship smartphone.

However, we do know that Sony Mobile has a press event set for May 8 in India where the Japanese company is expected to unveil the Xperia Z2. Still, there’s no telling when exactly the smartphone will go on sale and for how much.

Previous rumors have claimed that the Xperia Z2 might be officially introduced in mid-May for around Rs 48,000 ($800 / €575) and would be available for purchase about a week after the announcement.

Well, it appears that the rumors were not quite accurate, as Sony is likely to launch the Xperia Z2 in India on May 8, and if we are to believe these rumors, the smartphone will eventually go on sale after one week, on May 15.

Regarding the price tag for the Xperia Z2, @LeaksterInc claims that the smartphone will be available for exactly Rs 49,990 ($830 / €600), which is slightly higher than it was initially anticipated.

The good news is that all three color options will be released at launch, so customers will be able to choose from white, black and purple colors.

Customers in India should also expect some promotional offers to go live the moment Xperia Z2 goes up for pre-order. For the time being, it’s unclear where you will be able to purchase one, but we can safely assume that the Sony India online store will have some in stock.

Several authorized resellers may start accepting pre-orders for the Xperia Z2 soon after the smartphone goes official, but there’s no telling if they will offer it for the suggested retail price or slightly cheaper.

Sony Xperia Z2 usually comes with lots of free goodies, like digital noise-cancelling headset, magnetic charging dock and SD card, but depending on the country, the promotional offer may be different.

One thing is certain though, all customers who purchase the Xperia Z2 will receive Michael Jackson’s lasts XSCAPE album, along with lots of other free games, apps and movies that can be downloaded directly on the phone or come packed by default.

We expect limited stock of Xperia Z2 to arrive in India, just like in many other countries where the smartphone got released recently. Stay tuned for more updates on Sony Xperia Z2’s launch in India.
