A new smartphone from Sony Mobile has received the necessary approvals in China, namely the Xperia Z1S L39t, which should land on shelves in the country with support for TD-LTE / TD-SCDMA / GSM networks

The handset has been spotted on the website of Tenaa, where images with it have been published, alongside various details on its hardware capabilities.

Sony Xperia Z1S L39t is expected to arrive on shelves as the Chinese version of the flagship Android-based smartphone from Sony Mobile, though specific info on when it will be released hasn’t emerged as of now.

The photos available with the device show the same design that Xperia Z1 was launched with, though there are a series of small changes included.

For example, the headphone jack is placed differently when compared to the original, the same as the side ports, as XperiaGuide notes.

The available photos with the smartphone are similar to those leaked with the Xperia Z1S a while ago, which suggest that we’re actually looking at one and the same device.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Xperia Z1 was launched with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside, and 2GB of RAM.

It also comes with a 20-megapixel camera on the back, as well as with a front camera for making video calls. The handset runs under Android Jelly Bean, though it should receive an update to the newer Android 4.4 KitKat in the not too distant future.

Given the fact that Xperia Z1S L39t appears to be indeed the TD-LTE flavor of Xperia Z1, we might see it go official in China as soon as the next week, when China Mobile is expected to launch its new 4G network, along with smartphones and other devices compatible with them. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
