Xperia Z1, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from Sony Mobile, is now available for purchase in the UK on the network of wireless carrier EE.

The mobile phone arrives on shelves with a price tag of £9.99 ($16 / €12) attached to it, with the signing of a 24-month contract agreement on a £46 ($74 / €55) per month plan.

The smartphone is available in Black with 16GB of internal memory, and can be used on EE’s 4G network, as well as on the networks of Orange and T-Mobile in the country.

Xperia Z1 was made official in early September at the IFA 2013 show in Berlin with a design and hardware specs similar to those of Xperia Z.

The mobile phone arrives on shelves with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, while being powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.

Furthermore, it comes with 2GB of RAM, as well as with 16GB of internal memory. Sony also packed it with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the new mobile phone features a 20.7-megapixel camera with support for full HD video recording. There is also a front camera included in the package, great for making video calls while on the go.

The specs list of this device also includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, support for 3G and 4G networks, and NFC capabilities. At the same time, the smartphone comes with a built-in GPS receiver.

The same as Xperia Z before it, the new flagship handset comes with a waterproof design. It runs under Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with various exclusive features and apps coming from Sony themselves.

“Combine award-winning camera technology with a cutting edge mobile phone. And you’ve got a spectacular digital camera in a water resistant smartphone,” EE UK notes on its website.

“Capture every single detail – rain or shine, night or day, in the lowest of lights – in beautifully rich texture. Photographers, amateurs and Facebook hounds will love it.”

UK users interested in the purchase of Sony Xperia Z1 should head over to EE’s website to learn more on the available offers for it.
