14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Xperia Z1 is available for pre-order in lots of countries and is likely to hit shelves by the end of the month. Lots of carriers and authorized retailers offer special promotions for Sony’s flagship smartphone, but Australians have been left out for the moment.
According to AusDroid, Sony Xperia Z1 will be available for purchase via Sony Centre by September 30 for no less than $779 AUD ($715 / €545) upfront.
The unlocked version of Xperia Z1 is likely to be available at other major retailers across the country, but for now this is the only piece of information we have on its availability.
Sony Xperia Z1 has been confirmed to arrive at Telstra and Optus as well, where customers can pre-purchase one for free on select plans.
Customers in the UK, on the other hand, are given a free SmartWatch 2 or a Cybershot QX10 camera lens if they pre-order the Sony Xperia Z1.
Unfortunately, these offers are not yet available in Australia, but we will keep an eye out for any similar deals coming from Aussie carriers or retailers. However, Europeans will have to pay around €700 / $920 for the unlocked version of Xperia Z1.
The Xperia Z1 has been advertised as the ultimate camera phone and will join Sony’s solid lineup of high-end Android devices by the end of this month.
The smartphone boasts an incredible 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, which features autofocus, LED flash, 1/2.3'' sensor size, face detection, image stabilization, HDR, panorama and full HD video recording (1080p@30fps).
Hardware-wise, Xperia Z1 is no less impressive, as the handset packs a powerful 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.
There’s also 16GB of storage inside, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card. The smartphone offers LTE and HSPA support, along with Bluetooth 4.0, NFC (Near Field Communication), microUSB 2.0 MHL and a high-capacity non-removable 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery.
