We already know Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL won’t be available in India this week. However, Android fans can now pre-order both smartphones through various major retailers across the country.

XperiaBlog reports Sony Xperia Z is now available for pre-order at Flipkart for no less than Rs 38,990 outright, which is about $715 or €545. Check it out here.

On the other hand, Xperia ZL can be pre-ordered for slightly less as the phone has been priced at Rs 35,990 off contract ($660/€505). Check it out here.

When it comes to availability, things are a bit unclear for the moment. Sony Xperia Z is expected to hit shelves on March 12, but the Xperia ZL won’t arrive until the third week of March.

Obviously, these release dates are subject to change, but if nothing goes wrong customers in India may receive their handsets in the next few weeks.

It is also worth mentioning that Sony introduced all three color options for Xperia Z, so customers will be able to choose from black, white and purple. The Xperia ZL will only be available in black and white.

Both smartphones ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Sony promised an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean upgrade would be available soon after launch.

Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL come with 5-inch full HD (1080p) displays, 1.5 GHz quad-core processors, 13-megapixel rear cameras, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The former is also IP57 certified, which makes it dust and water resistant. According to Sony, the phone is water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes.

Connectivity-wise, the smartphones offer HSPA+ and Wi-Fi, LTE, DLNA, as well as microUSB, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP support and GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS.
